How a single doctors' chamber, opened in 2007, became a full-service general hospital.

The story starts well before Moon General Hospital existed. In 2007, Shamsul Alam founded Moon Doctors Chamber in Shayestanagar, Habiganj, a small, modest-capacity practice at a time when private medical care wasn't yet the established, investable sector it is today. It was one of the earliest clinics of its kind in the area, opening well before the district's now-crowded clinic scene, where a new one seems to appear every hundred metres.
In 2011, that work expanded into Moon Doctors Chamber and Diagnostic Center in Sabujbagh, Habiganj, adding proper diagnostic services alongside consultation and building on the trust the original chamber had earned. Over these years Shamsul Alam became recognised as a pioneer of Habiganj's modern medical sector, well ahead of the curve.
That growing legacy became the foundation for something bigger. In 2019, it culminated in Moon General Hospital, opening back in Shayestanagar, Habiganj, not a small clinic building up gradually, but a full-service general hospital launched at scale from day one, covering thirteen specialist departments under one roof.
2007 to today
Moon Doctors Chamber founded
Shamsul Alam opens a single-room practice in Shayestanagar, one of the first clinics of its kind in Habiganj at a time when private medicine was still a rare investment here.
Diagnostic services added
The practice becomes Moon Doctors Chamber & Diagnostic Center in Sabujbagh, adding lab and imaging services to consultation.
Moon General Hospital opens
The practice's momentum supports something larger: a complete general hospital in Shayestanagar, open from day one with thirteen departments already running.
A larger team, same care
The hospital is powered by a dedicated team of over 150 staff members, with resident doctors on site around the clock and specialist chambers held weekly.

A consultant specialist heads each department, and general physicians handle everyday care between chamber visits. Most specialists come in on Fridays.

If something needs more than routine care, the resident doctor on duty examines the patient and calls in the right consultant directly — arranging surgery on the spot if needed.
